Meet Equity Health Center: A New Era of Accessible Health Care in Coatesville
Welcome to Equity Health Center (EHC), a pioneering initiative transforming health care access and quality to support physical and mental well-being for residents in the Greater Coatesville area.
Founded in 2023, EHC is a collaboration between The Alliance for Health Equity (The AHE) and The Health Equity Group (formerly the Greater Coatesville Hospital Closure Group). With generous financial support from the Chester County Commissioners’ American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and The AHE, alongside individual and corporate donations and grants, EHC is on a mission to create an accessible, integrated healthcare ecosystem tailored to the needs of underserved populations.
Key Services and Partnerships
EHC’s physical location on the 4th floor of the Brandywine Center is a hub for various integrated care providers including:
- Coatesville Center for Community Health: facilitates collaboration across organizations
- Community Volunteers in Medicine: offers free healthcare for uninsured, low-income workers and their families
- Coatesville Youth Initiative: offers youth mental health screening, referrals and pro-social opportunities
- Penn Medicine/Chester County Hospital: provides wellness and prevention services free labs and screenings at locations throughout the region
- Transportation Management Association of Chester County: services Coatesville LINK
“EHC ensures that care is patient centered, equitable, culturally tailored, and coordinated through our community and provider network,” says Moira Gassenmeyer, EHC Coordinator. “We leverage digital technology to overcome barriers to access, reduce disparities, and address service gaps currently experienced by the diverse and largely underserved surrounding community.”
Our Impact and Goals
EHC is dedicated to helping all Coatesville-area residents live healthier lives by ensuring equitable healthcare options and access. This includes providing support and resources to the uninsured or underinsured. Our goal is to offer connections, information, resources, and guidance to help individuals find affordable healthcare and access the help they need.
